SUMMER IMMERSION

GRADES: RISING 10TH-12TH GRADERS

Start your high school experience with confidence as you build the skills to balance life both inside and outside the classroom. Spend part of your summer learning, making life-long friends, and building the confidence, resilience, and knowledge to leap into your next school year. This program simulates the balance of homestay life and the academic experience to help you transition smoothly in the fall. With the primary focus on developing life skills to succeed in a high school, you will have a dedicated residence life staff to help you gain valuable skills to live in with a homestay family.
Day students will experience a morning of academics and an afternoon of activities. As a day student, you are welcome to participate in evening and weekend activities for an additional fee.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Academic Emphasis

Writing Workshop Creative Writing: Students will engage in the writing process to build confidence in their abilities. The curriculum will anticipate the demands of students in grade level English class. students will engage in the writing process to build confidence in their abilities

Math: students will review math concepts from their previous math class and a recommendation of class placement will be sent to their school at the end of the session

Study Skills: students will develop and build on their study skills to strengthen their academic abilities

Arts: students will participate in a variety of art classes to give each student a sample of the Art electives they can elect while attending Burlington.

Daily instruction in all subjects during the weekday, similar to a shortened school day

Students will receive feedback on their progress and details of areas in which they can develop their learning to encourage learning and progression

Activities & Trips

Students will engage in a variety of on and off-campus activities. Some activities might include:

Sports-based: Tennis, Basketball, Volleyball, Hiking, Capture the Flag, Mini Olympics, Ultimate Frisbee, Pool, Gardening, and Table Tennis

Arts-based: Arts & crafts, Fashion, Jewelry making, Photography, Dance, Acting, and Talent Show

Learning Life Skills-based: Cooking/Nutrition, Health & Wellbeing, Mindful Yoga

Community Bonding: Karaoke Night, Disco, Board Games, Movie Night, Campfires, Trivia Night, celebrating holidays

Trips: Adventure Tails, Night Time Sporting, Nighttime Sporting Events and games
